TSMaster-based Automated Flashing and Real-time Process Status Display System Design

With the rapid evolution of automotive electrical and electronic architecture (EEA), the demand for software updates of in-vehicle Electronic Control Units (ECUs) is increasingly frequent. Traditional manual flashing methods are not only time-consuming and inefficient but also prone to flashing failures due to human operational negligence. The automated flashing and real-time process status display system developed based on the TOSUN TSMaster virtual instrument software platform successfully achieves 'one-click automated flashing' and 'process status visualization', significantly improving engineers' work efficiency in R&D, testing, and production lines.

1. System Core Architecture

This system mainly relies on TSMaster's underlying communication capabilities, combined with a customized User Interface (UI) and automated control logic. The architecture can be divided into three major modules:

memory UDS Diagnostic and Flashing Core (Bottom Layer)

Use TSMaster's built-in UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostic module to configure a complete Bootloader flashing process (such as: unlock, erase flash memory, transmit data, verify, etc.).

settings_ethernet Automated Control Logic (Middle Layer)

Call TSMaster's API through C scripts or Python scripts to string together diagnostic steps that originally needed to be executed manually one by one, achieving automatic process jumps and exception handling.

dashboard Real-time Graphical Interface (Top Layer)

Utilize TSMaster's user-defined panel (Panel) function to design an intuitive UI interface, providing real-time feedback on flashing progress, current steps, voltage/current status, and error codes to operators.

2. Core Function Features

    One-click Automated Flashing Process

Intelligent detection: After the system starts, it will first automatically detect the connection status of the in-vehicle network (CAN/CAN FD/LIN, etc.) and the current mode of the ECU.

Fully automatic execution: From entering extended mode, security unlock (Seed & Key), erasing Flash, transmitting Hex/Bin/S19 flash files, to final reset and verification, the entire process requires no manual intervention.

Real-time Process Status Display (Visual Feedback)

Progress bar and percentage: Dynamically display the current module and overall flashing progress.

Step highlight tracking: Graphicalize the diagnostic process. The currently executing step is highlighted in a specific color, completed steps are checked, and failed steps are marked in red.

Key parameter monitoring: Synchronously and in real-time display the bus load rate, ECU power supply voltage, and flashing time on the interface.

Perfect Exception Interruption and Recovery Mechanism

If an unexpected situation occurs during the flashing process (such as bus disconnection, timeout without response, or unstable voltage), the system will immediately capture the exception, stop flashing, and pop up a specific error code and troubleshooting suggestion on the UI panel, preventing the ECU from entering an unrecoverable 'Brick' state.

3. Application Scenarios and Value

science R&D and Testing Phase

Automated flashing allows test engineers to quickly update ECU firmware and shorten the test iteration cycle.

integration_instructions HIL Integration Testing

Can be seamlessly embedded as a sub-module into Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) automated test systems to achieve automatic version change testing.

build After-sales and Production Line Maintenance

The intuitive real-time display interface lowers the professional skill requirements for operators. The flashing status can be determined by looking at the color and progress bar, greatly reducing maintenance costs.

Summary

The automated flashing and real-time process status display system developed based on TSMaster fully utilizes the flexible, efficient, and visual features of the TSMaster platform. It not only encapsulates the complex UDS flashing process into simple graphical operations but also ensures the transparency and safety of the flashing process through a powerful real-time status feedback mechanism. It is a sharp tool for automotive electronics engineers to improve work efficiency.
